There’s One Rhyme In This Poem – Just Like Us

I want you to make me write about you

Without using words

Catch my eye through your lapping shine of hair

In between swathes of adrenaline filled emotional tug of war

Where you can’t keep your teeth off my skin

And I can’t keep myself from needing more

I want you to force me to write about you

With your glass breaking laugh

Like a gun to my head

And your evil all bearing smile

Like a hand on the paper

Keeping it from flying away

I want you to beat me into writing about you

But instead you were quiet

And I wriggled

Like a lizard’s tail after getting cut off

Like a deer shot with an arrow

Impulsively convulsing

While not understanding what’s causing the pain

The difference between you and a hunter

Is that you can tell yourself it was an accident

Pulling the trigger

And judge me for bleeding out

With those same stomach filling eyes

Staring through your lapping silken tar hair

I would’ve still wrote about you

If you wriggled
