I wish I could hold you
near and dear
like an ocean to it’s passengers
I don’t know where it is you want to go
but if you read me deeply
and understand my currents
I can take you there
I’ve had many stride across my changing surface
Many who make it to their destination
and wonder why their new journey doesn’t involve me anymore
I don’t know either
But I do know I enjoyed the way their bows floated across my tide
Seven ships in thirty days
Each just as unique as the last
I’m grateful for their time
But, they made me long for the feeling you once gave me
(It’s interesting to say that you gave me a feeling
when I had it myself
Maybe it’s because it rises like a gift)
It should be known that you don’t need to be a ship to cross an ocean
You don’t need an end to be with the sea
Be the leaf who accidentally falls in
Who is thrown and wades through relentless crashings and poignant stillness
Stoic and maleable
Intact and unfazed
This want I have
to be like you
makes me realize how beautiful I am inside
I hope I can make you feel the same
Even if it is
for just one wave
I wonder if you actually appreciated it
